Home LAN
Like
the advent of the local area network (LAN), the need to provide multiple
users with access to shared resources is driving the need for home networks.
A home network can solve this problem by allowing multiple PCs to access
and use a single device (internet access, printer, fax modem, etc.).
A home networking solution can also adopt a “no new wires” approach.
Today’s technology enables a home network to operate over existing in-home
telephone wiring, without impacting the other existing voice or data services.
The typical home wiring system does not provide the ideal environment for reliable data signal transfer. In addition to the wiring design and termination issues, the line voltage level and impedance of a home’s telephone wiring networking is constantly in flux. To overcome these difficulties, frequency division multiplexing approach that enables standard telephone wires to simultaneously carry voice, universal ADSL, and home networking signals without impacting each other. This adds to the simplicity of installation, and also allows the network to map nicely to the random telephone wiring topologies found in homes.
Smart Residential
Gateway
As
the popularity of home networks continues to increase, a new class of devices
can be used to effectively manage and control the network. One of
the primary requirements for a home network is the ability to provide direct
access to the Internet from every PC within the home. Distributing
WAN access throughout the home becomes increasingly important as next-generation
access technologies, such as cable modems and xDSL services, deliver increasing
amounts of bandwidth to the side of the home. The LAN side connects
the gateway to the home network via the physical layer.
Web-based e-mail, interactive gaming, household instrumentation control, and gateway management can be supported through the gateway as well, allowing any PC-like device within the home to access and control the home network.
The
home phone/communication system
continues to be a growing and changing field. We can help the homeowner
to access their current and future needs and build a communication network
that will serve them well into the future.
